Introduction To StarOffice Impress |
Sun StarOffice Impress a software product used to perform presentations.
There are various circumstances in which a presentation is to be made: teaching
a class, introducing a product to sell, explaining an organizational structure,
etc. When performing a presentation, there are two main kinds of presentation you can deliver: before an audience or not before an audience. The preparation and the actual delivery of each are quite different. Before getting into the details of each, we will first take a look at the software and analyze what it has to offer |

Practical Learning: Create A Presentation Using The AutoPilot Presentation
If you already have a presentation somewhere on a floppy disk, CD-ROM, DVD, local hard drive, network drive, or E-Mail attachment, etc, the Open Existing Presentation radio button allows you to open such a presentation. The From Template radio button allows to select a presentation based on one of the sample presentations. If you choose this option, a combo box comes up. This allows you to select one of three options. |

View A Presentation |
StarImpress offers a full screen
display that allows you to give your presentation. During design or after,
it is important to preview the product some time to time to evaluate how
the process is going.
To view a presentation, on the main menu, you can click
Presentation -> Slide Show. The presentation starts from the slide that had focus
when the show was launched; therefore, whenever you want to start the
presentation from the first slide, make sure you press Ctrl + Home.
When viewing a presentation, many techniques are
available to navigate to the next, the previous, or any other slide. To
move to the next slide, simply click the mouse; you can also press Enter,
the right arrow key, or Page Down. To get to the previous slide, you can press the
left arrow or the Page Up keys .
To stop the presentation any time, press Esc or
right-click on the slide and click End Show.

Saving A Presentation |
A StarOffice Impress presentation is a computer file
that should safely be stored somewhere for later use or reference.
When saving a presentation, you can store it on your computer, on a
floppy, or on another computer (network drive).
To save a presentation, you use the Save As dialog
box. The shortcut to save a presentation is Ctrl + S.
There are two pieces of information you should provide
when saving a file: the file name and the location. A file name can have
up to 255 characters. Refrain from using fancy characters, give an easily
recognizable name. A file location is where the file will be stored; on
your (local) computer, this is called a folder. If you want to save your
presentation on a floppy disk or another medium, make the selection from
the Save In combo box. To save the presentation on another computer, make
sure you are connected to that computer.
